On May 13 there was a fire in the newly built cold rolling mill currently under commissioning in Gränges’ production facility in Konin, Poland. No one got injured but the fire resulted in damage on production equipment. The outlook for the second quarter remains unchanged.

Gränges is expanding its Newport, Arkansas, production facility to enable production of battery cathode foil. Gränges will be the first domestic producer of such foil, which is a critical component in the manufacturing of the lithium-ion batteries necessary for a transition to electric vehicles. The investment comprises finishing and clean room equipment with commercial deliveries planned to begin in 2024.

Strong result despite turbulent environment First quarter 2022
Gränges will invest USD 52 million to expand its recycling and casting operations in Huntingdon, Tennessee. The investment will enable a market launch of near-zero carbon aluminium solutions in 2024 to meet the growing demand for sustainable products in North America. The new centre will be powered via renewable electricity as part of the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) Green Invest program.
