Skanska has been named a "Climate Leader" in Europe as the result of a joint initiative between the Financial Times and the data insight company Statista. Existing emissions data from 4,000 companies as well as actions for reducing carbon emissions were reviewed, taking a range of criteria linked to verifiable data into account. Only 10 percent of the companies reviewed qualified for the list.

Skanska USA Commercial Development today announces that Robert Ward is no longer with the company.

Until a successor is appointed, Claes Larsson, Executive Vice President, and member of Skanska AB Group Leadership Team, will assume the role of interim Business Unit President of the operations effective today, 12[th] of May 2022.

The recruitment process for a successor has started.

Skanska has signed a contract with Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University to build a new undergraduate science laboratory building in Blacksburg, Virginia, USA. The contract is worth about USD 70M, about SEK 650M, which will be included in the US order bookings for the second quarter 2022.

The four-story, approximately 102,000-gross-square-foot (9,500 gross-square-meter) building will provide critical teaching laboratory and classroom space to support Virginia Tech's growing enrollment and Beyond Boundaries vision.

Skanska has divested the office building Nowy Rynek D in Poznan, Poland, to Eastnine for EUR 121 M, about SEK 1.3 billion. The transaction will be recorded by Skanska Commercial Development Europe in the second quarter 2022. The transfer of the property will take place immediately.

January-March 2022 compared to January-March 2021
 

Highlights according to segment reporting:
  • Revenue amounted to SEK 37.8 billion (34.4); adjusted for currency effects revenue increased 3 percent.

  • Operating income amounted to SEK 1.9 billion (2.3); adjusted for currency effects operating income decreased 23 percent.

  • Earnings per share amounted to SEK 3.62 (4.59).

  • Operating cash flow from operations amounted to SEK -2.8 billion (3.3), according to IFRS.

Skanska has signed a contract with the Norwegian Public Roads Administration on the construction of a new highway outside Oslo, Norway. The contract is worth NOK 2.9 billion, about SEK 3.1 billion, which will be included in the Nordic order bookings for the second quarter 2022.

The project includes construction of 2.0 kilometers of six lane highway between Ramstadsletta and Strand, including 1.3 kilometer of the new Høviktunnel outside Oslo as well as changes in the local surrounding road system, including the construction of a new bridge and retaining walls.

Skanska's Three month report 2022 will be released on Wednesday, May 4 at 07:30 am CET.

The report will be presented by Anders Danielsson, Skanska's President and CEO, and Magnus Persson, CFO, at a press- and telephone conference at 10:00 am CET at Skanska's head office at Warfvinges väg 25 in Stockholm. Skanska is stepping up its efforts to actively contribute to reducing carbon emissions. The CEO Alliance for Europe's Recovery, Reform, and Resilience, which gathers a wide range of representatives from leading European industries, focuses on how industry can make an even greater contribution to the climate transition through the use of innovation and business ingenuity. The aim of participating in the Alliance is to shape concrete policy proposals, identify new partnerships and businesses that can drive innovation, and to strengthen dialogue with leading decision makers.

Skanska has signed a contract with Trondheim Postgård DA, owned by Reitan AS, to build a new theatre and museum in Trondheim, Norway. The contact is worth NOK 410M, about SEK 430M, which will be included in the Nordic order bookings for the second quarter 2022.

The project is called Nye Hjorten Teater & Posten Modern Museum. Since January 2021, Skanska has been working in close collaboration with the customer, architect, and consultants in the development phase of the project.

Skanska has acquired about 3,000 square meters of land in Washington, DC, USA. The seller is Brandywine Realty Trust. The land acquisition amounts to USD 30M, about SEK 280M.

The site at 25 M Street Southeast, is located south of the United States Capitol and within close proximity to notable retail, dining, and entertainment establishments such as Nationals Park. This acquisition marks Skanska's tenth commercial venture in Greater Washington, DC metro area, and one of the few remaining opportunities for a core development site near the Capital Riverfront.
