Alma Media: New kesätyö.fi Service Launches - First 10,000 Summer Jobs for Young People

Alma Media

Alma Media Corporation       Press Release                       15 January 2026

NEW KESÄTYÖ.FI SERVICE LAUNCHES - FIRST 10,000 SUMMER JOBS FOR YOUNG PEOPLE

Alma Media is supporting the launch of the new Kesätyö.fi service, which offers young people more equal opportunities to enter working life. The service is developed by the Children and Youth Foundation of Finland and responds to a timely challenge at a time when fewer summer jobs are available and competition for them is increasingly intense.

- Alma's mission is to accelerate sustainable growth for individuals, businesses and society. Supporting young people's access to working life is an important societal issue for us, and we want to help build solutions that lower the threshold to first work experiences and strengthen young people's confidence in their own opportunities, says Elina Kukkonen, EVP Communications and Brand at Alma Media.

Kesätyö.fi brings together summer job opportunities which young people can apply for regardless of prior work experience, background or networks. The service is launched today, 15 January 2026, together with its patron, Minister of Labour Matias Marttinen, and its main partners Finnish Work (Suomalainen Työ ry) and the YTK Unemployment Fund. At launch, several major employers are participating, offering a total of 10,000 summer jobs.

An Invitation for Companies to Help Build a More Equal Working Life

Alma Media's involvement in the Kesätyö.fi service is part of the company's long-term cooperation with the Children and Youth Foundation. Alma also supports the TET.fi service and regularly organises its own TET weeks, giving young people the opportunity to explore working life and a wide range of professions.

- Together, TET placements and Kesätyö.fi form a pathway that supports young people in their transition from school into working life and helps them identify their strengths and areas of interest, says Minna Kemppainen, Brand and Sustainability Manager at Alma Media.

As an employer and an international provider of recruitment services, Alma Media is committed to promoting a diverse, equal and inclusive working life, and to encouraging employers to offer young people their first work experiences.

- We challenge all companies to consider whether their organisation could offer at least one summer job. Even a brief pause at the topic can produce solutions: for example defining tasks as a clearly scoped project, systematising onboarding, or introducing shared team mentoring practices can open up an important pathway into working life for a young person, Kemppainen says.
