Instalco wins new assignment from Svensk Kärnbränslehantering

Instalco

The Instalco company, Selek Entreprenad AB, has won an assignment from Svensk Kärnbränslehantering AB (SKB) for the electric power installations at Clab – the Central Interim Storage Facility for Spent Nuclear Fuel. Selek is the main contractor for the project and has engaged three other Instalco companies as subcontractors. The total order value for Instalco is approximately SEK 100 million.

The project involves modernization of the electric power installations at Clab, near Oskarshamn. It is an interim storage facility for spent nuclear fuel. This is where all the spent nuclear fuel from Swedish nuclear power plants is kept while waiting for the final repository to begin operating.

Selek’s assignment includes dismantling and installation of new electrical power equipment such as switchgear, transformers, backup power equipment and cabling. The other Instalco companies involved in the project are: Intec (planning and design), Avent (ventilation and cooling) and Start-Up (electrical power design, commissioning and testing). Other Instalco companies could also become involved at a later stage in the project.

“We are delighted to have won the assignment from SKB for the end client, Vattenfall. We’re also looking forward to working with them on this partnering project. Our proposal included comprehensive technical expertise, with several Instalco companies involved in various disciplines, which was a deciding factor for the customer SKB in the tendering process,” says Pether Norlander, CEO at Selek.

Instalco has previously done assignments for Clab via the Instalco subsidiaries Avent and Start-Up. The project is already underway and expected to be completed in May 2027. The goal is to certify the project as a Sustainable Instalco Project.
