Peab has been commissioned to rebuild and extend Trandared School in Borås. The customer is Borås City and the contract is worth SEK 256 million.
Trandared School is an elementary school that goes from preschool classes to grade 6 and it is facing a major change that includes both renovation and new construction. Peab will build a new sports hall and permanent school buildings to replace the current temporary pavilions. At the same time, the schoolyard will be modernized to better meet today's accessibility, safety and educational outdoor environment needs.
"Trandared School is a complex and significant project that places high demands on planning and coordination. Together with our customer, we can take advantage of our shared experiences to create a future-proof school that meets current and future needs," says Andreas D'Arienzo, Region Manager Peab.
The contract also includes demolition work that includes remediation, landscaping and blasting. The project is conducted with significant focus on sustainability and reuse. Before the demolition work begins, Peab and Borås City will do a joint inventory of the property to identify products that can be reused in the new school which will contribute to a more resource efficient and circular construction process. Part of the project includes offering students in Borås City workplace-based learning which will help in supplying skills and greater collaboration between schools and business.
"This is a major and vital project for Borås City. At, Generations of students will spend their first school years at Trandared School and we feel confident taking on this project together with Peab," says Richard Svanberg, Construction Department Manager for Borås City.
Construction is planned to start in the summer of 2026 and the new Trandared School is expected to be ready for the autumn term of 2028.
The project will be order registered in business area Construction in the second quarter 2026.
