The Association of Swedish Building Materials Merchants and Prodikt (BIMobject AB) initiate collaboration for simpler sharing of sustainability data

The Association of Swedish Building Materials Merchants and Prodikt, a part of BIMobject AB, are entering into a collaboration agreement to make it easier for building material suppliers to maintain, quality assure, and share sustainability information with the Swedish building materials trade. The collaboration simplifies the trade's ability to work harmoniously with digitized climate information both today and in future systems developed in the association's partnership with GS1.

As the building materials trade moves towards increased standardization, the need for structured, traceable, and quality-assured data is rapidly increasing, not least climate and environmental information. The collaboration between Prodikt and the Association of Swedish Building Materials Merchants enables an efficient process for suppliers who choose to use Prodikt, from calculating products' climate performance, primarily EPDs (Environmental Product Declarations), to sharing product-specific results with the building materials trade. This information can then be shared with the trade through GS1's hub, in the same flow as other product information.

As part of the collaboration, Prodikt becomes a (non-exclusive) selected platform for the delivery of sustainability data to the association's members. Prodikt will mirror their requirement specification for article data (data templates) and ensure compatibility with the trade's needs and flows. Already today, over 150 suppliers share their sustainability data via Prodikt's data service.

“For the trade to be able to deliver better product and sustainability data to its customers, both comparable and quality-assured information is required. Through the collaboration with Prodikt, we are taking another step in simplifying things for suppliers and accelerating standardized data sharing in the industry,” says Monica Björk, CEO, the Association of Swedish Building Materials Merchants.

“We want to make it easy to do the right thing. When suppliers can collect, maintain, and share their product information from one place, double work and friction are reduced throughout the value chain. In collaboration with Byggmaterialhandlarna, we are now further developing our already existing data flows all the way to the trade's systems,” says Rasmus Ekberg, Chief Commercial Officer, BIMobject AB and co-founder of Prodikt.

Byggmaterialhandlarna is the building trade's industry organization and works for a more attractive, digital, and sustainable industry, through initiatives such as standardization and more efficient information flows.
