Per Aarsleff A/S has been awarded the design & build contract by Energinet for the execution of the land facilities for Bornholm Energy Island. The two facilities will receive and distribute power from the future offshore wind farms in the Baltic Sea and connect the electricity generation to the Danish and German grids.
The largest land facility will be constructed in southern Bornholm, where power from the offshore wind farms will be collected and distributed to Germany and to Høje Taastrup, where the second facility will be built.

A significant part of the work will be performed in-house across the Aarsleff Group. This supports efficient execution and a robust project process. Among other things, a large part of the concrete elements will be prefabricated at Aarsleff’s element facility in Poland, and Wicotec Kirkebjerg A/S will carry out the technical installations.
The facility on Bornholm will cover an area of 110 hectares, including planting, access roads and stormwater ponds. Here, Aarsleff will construct 51,000 square metres of buildings, including concrete and steel halls for, among other things, converters and the 400 kV high-voltage substation. The largest buildings will be four distinctive halls, architecturally inspired by the rocky landscape of Bornholm.
At Høje Taastrup, the project includes the construction of two halls of 17,000 square metres on a 23-hectare site, as well as associated infrastructure and landscaping.
The design phase will commence on 1 August, with the first earthworks and concrete works expected to begin around the turn of the year 2027/28. The land facilities are expected to be handed over in 2030 and 2031, respectively.
The project is carried out under a design & build contract with Artelia A/S as consultant, while CF Møller Architects is responsible for the design of the buildings and landscape.
The total value of the contract is DKK 3.7 billion. The contract is subject to a standard standstill period of ten days.
The contract does not affect Aarsleff's earnings expectations for the financial year 2025/26.
