Swiss Post has commissioned a modern Kempower DC fast charging system at its new logistics center in Villmergen – an important step for the electrification of Swiss Post’s vehicle fleet. International utility company Repower supported the project as an experienced partner and was responsible for the planning, installation, and commissioning of the charging infrastructure.
"The installation of the new Kempower charging infrastructure in Villmergen went smoothly and on schedule. The technology impresses with its high reliability and flexibility – exactly what we need for the daily operation of our e-trucks and e-buses", says Karl Klaus, Real Estate Project Manager at Swiss Post.
Jebsen & Jessen, an official distribution partner of Kempower in Switzerland, supplied the technology. A total of 16 charging points were commissioned to a setup including 14 Kempower Control Units equipped with 14 Kempower Cable Arms. Additionally, two Kempower Liquid-Cooled Satellites provide high power for fast-charging the vehicles. This makes it Repower's largest installation of Kempower products to date.
Particularly noteworthy is the mixed use of the charging infrastructure: Swiss Post can charge both buses and trucks at the stations – a prime example of the high flexibility and scalability of the Kempower system.
The project in Villmergen underscores the importance of electrifying heavy-duty and logistics fleets as a central force of the mobility transition. Furthermore, it demonstrates that fleet electrification can already be implemented efficiently today. Dynamic power distribution ensures that buses and trucks are always charged according to demand and are ready for operation exactly when they are needed. With this future-oriented solution, Swiss Post, Repower, Jebsen & Jessen, and Kempower are jointly making an important contribution to the sustainable mobility transition in Switzerland.
