Saniona to Host Virtual R&D Day Focusing on SAN2668 for Severe Pediatric Epilepsies

Saniona

Saniona (OMX: SANION), a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on neurological and psychiatric disorders, today announces that it will host a virtual R&D Day focusing on SAN2668, Saniona's novel treatment candidate for severe pediatric epilepsies, and featuring leading pediatric epilepsy expert Nicola Specchio, MD, PhD.

The webinar will discuss the significant unmet need and current treatment landscape for severe pediatric epilepsies, including developmental and epileptic encephalopathies (DEEs), and review the scientific rationale, preclinical data, and planned clinical development strategy for SAN2668.

The event will take place on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at 10:00 AM ET (16:00 CET). To register for the event, click here.

"We believe SAN2668 represents an important opportunity to address the significant unmet needs that remain in severe pediatric epilepsies, where many children continue to experience debilitating seizures despite available treatment options," said Thomas Feldthus, Chief Executive Officer of Saniona. "We are delighted to welcome Dr. Nicola Specchio to discuss the disease landscape and current treatment challenges, while also reviewing the scientific rationale and development strategy supporting SAN2668."

The webinar will feature Nicola Specchio, MD, PhD, Head of the Rare and Complex Epilepsies Unit at Bambino Gesù Children's Hospital, IRCCS, Rome, Italy. Dr. Specchio is a globally recognized expert in pediatric epilepsy and principal investigator in numerous clinical studies focused on developmental and epileptic encephalopathies and other severe childhood epilepsies.

Joined by members of Saniona's management team, Dr. Specchio will discuss the substantial unmet medical need and current treatment landscape for severe pediatric epilepsies. These disorders are often highly drug resistant, associated with significant seizure burden and developmental impairment, and can have lifelong consequences for patients and their families.

As the first in a planned series of webinars highlighting Saniona's differentiated CNS pipeline, the event will provide an overview of SAN2668, including:

  • The scientific rationale for targeting GABAA receptors in severe pediatric epilepsies
  • Key preclinical data supporting the development of SAN2668
  • The planned Phase 1 clinical development strategy
  • The disease landscape and commercial opportunity in severe pediatric epilepsies

A live question-and-answer session will follow the presentations.

For those unable to attend the live event, a replay will be made available following the webinar.

If you would like to submit a question for the live Q&A session, please send your question to questions@lifesciadvisors.com.
