TEL: Telenor's subsidiary KNL secures framework agreement with the Danish Armed Forces

TELRegulatoriskt pressmeddelande10.09.2026 klo 08.30
Fornebu, Norway / Oulu, Finland, 10 September 2026
Telenor's subsidiary KNL has secured a framework agreement enabling the Danish
Ministry of Defence Acquisition and Logistics Organisation (DALO) to procure
KNL's secure high-frequency (HF) communication systems on behalf of the Danish
Armed Forces. Denmark thereby becomes the third Nordic country to join KNL's
NORDEFCO agreement.

"Sweden and Finland have already built a strong foundation for Nordic
cooperation around CNHF communications, and Denmark joining the framework
agreement is a natural next step in broadening that work. It reflects a genuine
and growing need for secure, independent communication across the region, as
Nordic countries strengthen their ability to operate together," says Dan
Ouchterlony, Head of Telenor Corporate Development Portfolio.

The agreement has been signed under the Nordic Defence Cooperation (NORDEFCO),
which facilitates joint Nordic procurement. All NORDEFCO countries - Denmark,
Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden - are eligible to join the agreement.

The technology behind the agreement

For over ten years, KNL has developed high-frequency (HF) communication
solutions that operate entirely independently of external infrastructure, such
as SATCOM and GNSS systems. The system connects automatically in under one
second, and the connection is encrypted and remains stable even under jamming
and other electromagnetic interference. This is becoming increasingly important
in modern defence operations

Denmark's accession follows on from KNL's ten-year NORDEFCO framework agreement
with the Finnish and Swedish Armed Forces, which runs for the period 2025-2035
and covers the delivery of CNHF communication systems. To date, three orders
have been publicly announced under the framework agreement, with a combined
value of approximately EUR 23.5 million.

"With Denmark on board, we now have agreements with three of the Nordic defence
forces. It's a strong endorsement of our technology, and gives us a solid
platform for further international growth. We're seeing demand for independent,
robust communication solutions increase in line with global security situation,"
says Toni Lindén, CEO of KNL.

Part of a wider Nordic and international push

The agreement with Denmark also comes shortly after KNL was awarded a position
on the UK's framework agreement for tactical communication systems (RM6393), a
framework agreement worth up to GBP 4.7 billion over eight years. KNL is one of
several qualified suppliers under the agreement and will compete for individual
orders as they are tendered. The company is also in discussions with several
other NATO countries about further cooperation.
"We're seeing a clear rise in demand. This agreement strengthens our position as
a leading supplier of beyond line of sight connectivity," concludes Lindén.
