Aktia announced on Tuesday that it had appointed Anssi Huhta as the company’s new CEO. Huhta, who is responsible for banking operations, has served as Aktia's interim CEO since June 2025. The appointment was expected and brings much-needed continuity to the bank's management after several changes.
The new CEO knows the company well
Anssi Huhta's appointment as permanent CEO was expected, and we consider the choice sensible. Huhta has been a member of the company's management team since 2020 and previously served as head of the banking business, so he is well acquainted with the company and its strategy An internal appointment is also logical, given the recent high management turnover, which would slow down the progress of any organization's development projects. An external CEO would have required yet another introduction period, which would quite likely have pushed the implementation schedule of key revision projects further into the future.
At the same time, it should be noted that we feel the new CEO's strong banking background requires a skilled asset management leader alongside him, as Aktia seeks growth from commission income. So far, Aktia has not appointed a permanent head for its asset management after the previous director's employment ended in August this year.
The CEO's tenure calls for stability in strategy implementation
Huhta's appointment does not bring about changes to Aktia's strategy or its priorities, and thus does not affect our view of the company. However, the appointment was necessary for the implementation of the growth strategy, as the company's management and employees can now focus on implementing measures that support growth. Here, the CEO in particular plays a key role. While the company's business outlook is quite stable, it needs revenue growth, particularly in asset management, to support its investment case.
