Summa Defence is a Finnish defence and security technology group. This is completely incomprehensible. Trading is suspended and the company says absolutely nothing about the reasons. Rumors are swirling. Finally, the CEO gives an interview on the subject to a single media outlet, which publishes the story behind a PAYWALL. Many retail investors only read summaries of it from others, so not exactly equal treatment of investors this time either. Well, I don’t have any money at stake here, I’m just stressing on behalf of others.

I would be interested in hearing an interim update on the progress of that trading pattern. While waiting for that, I wrote a fairy tale: Once upon a time, there were two stock investors, Index-Mikko and Cultist-Tero. Exactly half a year ago, both decided, forgetting the recommended geographical diversification, to invest 10,000 euros in companies on the Helsinki Stock Exchange. Index-Mikko concluded that his time or skills weren’t enough for company analysis, so he diversified his purchases across the 25 large-cap companies on the Helsinki Stock Exchange. Now, half a year later, he can see that mirroring the return of the OMXH25GI, his 10,000 euro investment has grown to approximately 11,900 euros. Cultist-Tero, on the other hand, read Shareville and the Kauppalehti forum, noticed the good buzz and cult-like fervor surrounding the Summa stock, and noted that the stock price had fallen to about one-third of its spring peak level. So he invested ten thousand in Summa, believing that what goes down must come up. Now, half a year later, he can see that only 2,200 euros remain of his ten-thousand-euro investment. Half a year ago, our duo started from the same line. Today, Index-Mikko’s stock wealth is about 5.5 times that of Cultist-Tero. If the starting point of our story had been at the beginning of June, the wealth gap would have grown more than tenfold. What do we learn from this? Perhaps nothing. But personally, I will continue to stay away from hype stocks whose value creation is based on something other than the quality of the business and its prospects.

Why does the company have to submit its releases to Nasdaq for review in advance? Is it on some secret observation list, or why such a practice? Normally, releases are pushed out without any external pre-screening.

According to Summa’s website, Huttunen is a Master of Science in Engineering and a Bachelor of Laws. According to the article behind a paywall, the company had submitted these announcements to Nasdaq, which suspended trading of the shares allegedly to investigate the announcements further. I don’t know whether these announcements were provided to Nasdaq in their yesterday-published form as early as Thursday, or if they were changed, for example, at Nasdaq’s request, but could there be anything in them that would be grounds for suspending trading? At least with my level of expertise, I can’t see why announcing a delayed order and securing a financing solution would lead to a trading suspension. On the other hand, trading resumed very soon after the announcements were issued, which supports the idea that these announcements contained unpublished inside information that had caused the trading suspension. Who knows, but I don’t really have much faith in this company’s success. There are certainly reasons for secrecy in this big deal, given it’s a sensitive defense equipment procurement, but if one wants to take a more pessimistic view, this could just be a smoke screen for something else. Visibility into the company’s business remains poor and will likely continue to be so, as no figures for the group’s various business segments are reported on a segment-by-segment basis.

Yeah, Timo Huttunen’s collected excuses. What’s his story? His education isn’t mentioned anywhere, but his merit is “long” experience. Feels a bit like he’s the same caliber as the previous CEO. “Releases are scrutinized closely and more information is requested about them….. “

On Friday, Meriaura Group announced changes in the company&#x2019;s financial management. The Group&apos;s CFO, Heikki Timonen, who has a Savosolar background, is leaving the company. The Group&apos;s financial management tasks will be outsourced to Meriaura Oy, a subsidiary of Meriaura Group. The management of the financial administration will be transferred to Miia Peltonen, who will act as CFO of Meriaura Oy.
We see these changes as part of the consolidation of the organization following the merger of the two companies, Meriaura and Savosolar, in the fall of 2022. The business of Meriaura Oy, which forms the Marine Logistics reporting area, accounts for the majority of the Group&apos;s business and is relatively stable, so it is natural that the management&apos;s focus is also on Meriaura.
