This GMP thing is a bit - well - important, but somewhat impossible for an investor to assess. But it’s something to consider, I have personal experience with it. I’m holding a couple of companies that have stumbled with GMP issues, Xspray and Telix. I believe the risk of regulators asking more detailed questions is always elevated when something new is being done, where the manufacturing method deviates from conventional techniques. In Xspray’s case, it was an amorphous formulation. With Telix, it was that a biological antibody had been linked to a radioisotope. And yes, both assured that everything was in order until the FDA issued a CRL (Complete Response Letter). Telix was specifically asked whether the research batches were exactly the same as those coming from the commercial line. But then again, for me, not being an expert in this matter either, it’s completely impossible to assess whether a company’s GMP matters are in order or not. And often these operations are outsourced. With Diamyd, this is different, it’s great that production is in-house. But personally, I’m now trying to focus my due diligence on the research itself and market potential, and I hope that the GMP matters are handled appropriately.

In addition to those you listed, an interesting point is Perceptive Advisors, which was involved in - drumroll - a certain Provention Bio. That’s the same company that had that drug Tzield with unpleasant side effects and about the same efficacy… It was sold to Sanofi for three billion USD. They had at least a 7% stake in 2021. With a quick Google search, now there are funds/investors with such a track record that… wow, I need to process this.  Wow… the more I investigate, the more it seems like a really big deal. I’m not familiar with these names myself, but every news article or AI-generated description praises these companies to the skies. RA Capital Management: Apparently a really, really strong fund in the field, not driven by financial bulls but by science, and the company is full of medical doctors. RA Capital has been involved in numerous mega-deals in recent years, and they invest long-term, aiming for large acquisitions.  Prometheus Biosciences: RA Capital got involved even before the IPO in 2021, probably significantly cheaper than the IPO price of $19/share. After the IPO, the market cap was $700M. RA Capital did not sell after the successful phase 2 rocketing in 2022, even though the stock rocketed over $100, instead, they put more money into the risk offering. In 2023, Merck bought the entire company for $10.8 billion. Karuna Therapeutics: The story is almost identical. RA Capital was an anchor investor involved in building the company even before its 2019 IPO ($16/share). Many considered Karuna’s schizophrenia drug risky because it was based on a molecule previously rejected by another drug giant, but RA Capital’s doctors understood the science and the mechanism behind it. When the company announced incredibly strong phase 3 results in autumn 2022 and the stock rocketed over $200, RA Capital once again calmly sat on their hands, waiting for the real jackpot. In December 2023, Bristol Myers Squibb (BMS) bought the entire company for an outrageous $14 billion valuation ($330/share). From IPO to acquisition offer, the value increased more than 20-fold.  A 20-fold growth for Diamyd would fit perfectly here . I think I’ve convinced myself that I definitely won’t sell at the first big jump, but rather wait for Big Pharma to come shopping with their checkbook, or for Diamyd itself to become “Big Pharma.”  This is absolutely excellent news. The Swedish authority is traditionally very thorough, and it seems there are always some things to correct. Just “minor findings” practically means that the GMP license is practically approved by the Swedish authority. This greatly reduces the risk of, for example, a BLA application failing due to GMP deficiencies. So now we are practically approved for GMP for manufacturing for research use. After this, there will be another leap to GMP for commercial manufacturing. But this is precisely the exact same and only existing line whose scale should already be sufficient for commercial batches. In addition, the drug is packaged by the state-owned APL, which should have its methods in order. Can @Clark_kent elaborate? I would assume the leap to commercial GMP requires a lot of paperwork and a lot of effort with production batch validation, but the approval of clinical GMP is a very positive signal that could be said to remove most of the risks of commercial GMP.
