NCC organizes Awareness day for sixteenth consecutive year - focus on risk behaviors

NCC BPress release02.09.2026 klo 09.00

Today, Awareness day is being held at all of NCC's workplaces in Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland. The activity is crucial to NCC's efforts to create a strong safety-oriented corporate culture. As in previous years, the focus will be on risk behaviors.

Since 2011, NCC has been arranging Awareness day on the first Wednesday in September to raise awareness about safety and the work environment, and to strengthen the company's shared safety culture. At 9:00 a.m. CEST, workers will pause operations at all of NCC's construction sites to reflect on and discuss matters concerning health and safety.

The entire workplace - including subcontractors and suppliers - will participate in a mandatory activity around a common theme. This year's theme is "I never compromise on safety, I work safely or not at all" and focuses on understanding and managing risk behaviors that can lead to unsafe and unhealthy work environments.

"This is a work in progress. It is important that we join forces with our customers, subcontractors and suppliers to constantly strive to achieve risk-free behaviors and safe work environments. For example, our early involvement as contractors in the construction process has resulted in a very positive impact on worksite safety," says Jan Skriver, Head of Health and Safety at NCC.

NCC's health and safety initiatives aim to eliminate serious incidents and fatal accidents at NCC's worksites. Since 2018, NCC has measured the number of accidents with more than four days' absence and this figure has fallen 60 percent since measuring began. From 2020 onwards, NCC has also measured serious incidents and the most serious incidents have decreased almost 40 percent.

"We are committed to making ongoing improvements to reduce the number of accidents even further. The focus is on raising risk awareness and ensuring that work practices and methods promote a safer work environment," says Jan Skriver.
