Nexam Chemical receives largest Reactive Recycling™ order to date

NEXAMPress release20.10.2026 klo 11.00

Nexam Chemical has received an order of approximately SEK 5 million for Reactive Recycling™ products from an existing customer. The order is the largest single order received to date within Reactive Recycling and represents a continued scale-up of commercial volumes with the customer.

The customer uses Nexam Chemical's technology in the production of thermoformed PET trays and other rigid food packaging applications. For the customer, Reactive Recycling™ enables a higher share of recycled PET (rPET) while maintaining material performance and process stability.

The application is highly relevant in Europe, where the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) will require contact-sensitive PET packaging to contain at least 30 percent recycled content from 2030, with the requirement subsequently rising to 50 percent. As recycled content rises, maintaining material performance and process stability becomes increasingly demanding - precisely the challenge Reactive Recycling™ is designed to address.

"This is a good example of how a customer relationship develops over time - from evaluation and qualification to recurring commercial volumes. The customer has continued to scale up its use of our technology. In rigid food packaging, the ability to increase recycled PET content without compromising product quality or process stability is becoming increasingly important," says Henrik Bernquist, Business Manager Recycling at Nexam Chemical.

Reactive Recycling™ is Nexam Chemical's technology for improving the properties and processability of recycled polymers. The technology enables a higher proportion of recycled material to be used while maintaining or improving material properties and production efficiency.
