NKT

NKT has entered an exclusive long-term partnership with the German distribution system operator (DSO) Mainova, focusing on close collaboration and power cable supply for the ongoing upgrade of the power grid in Frankfurt am Main.

The German power grid is under constant development to support the transition to renewable energy and general electrification. To support the ongoing upgrade of power transmission in the city of Frankfurt am Main, NKT has entered a long-term partnership with the DSO Mainova to continue timely investments in expanding the city's power grid. The partnership agreement runs until 2033, encompassing close collaboration and ongoing supply of primarily 110 kV HVAC onshore power cables.

- As a driving force in the energy transition, we rely on strong collaboration with NKT to enhance supply security and future-proof our grid infrastructure. Through this partnership, Mainova is advancing one of Germany's largest infrastructure projects, to expanding the power grid in Frankfurt, for the benefit of people, the economy, and a sustainable energy future in Frankfurt and the Rhine-Main region, says Peter Arnold, Member of the Executive Board at Mainova.

The partnership with NKT is a key element in Mainova's strategic focus on upgrading its power grid by modernising infrastructure and increasing the transmission capacity of the grid to meet rising demand for electricity as the city grows.

- We are pleased to continue the close collaboration with Mainova to support the ongoing development and upgrade of the power grid in Frankfurt. The partnership provides a strong foundation to strengthen the city's power transmission capacity for the increasing electricity demand driven by the transition to renewable energy, says Carsten Wolff, Vice President and Head of AC Onshore in NKT.

The power cables and accessories for the expected projects in the partnership will be manufactured at NKT's specialised factories, with the majority being delivered from NKT's German high-voltage factory in Cologne.

The partnership agreement will run until 2033.
