Keliber has been granted up to EUR 2.6 million from Business Finland for the development of the company's lithium project.  The project is part of the first pan-European battery research and innovation project (IPCEI - Important Project of Common European Interest), which aims at building a sustainable, innovative and competitive battery ecosystem in Europe. On December 9, 2019, the European Commission approved a EUR 3.2 billion grant scheme from seven member states for battery research and innovation projects.
