There’s been a lot of discussion here from different angles about Optomed’s channels and various events. How significant a distribution channel in the United States is the strategic partnership with the IRIS (Intelligent Retinal Imaging Systems) platform? In my opinion, this has been somewhat overlooked, because:   Established customer base: The IRIS platform is already used by over 650 healthcare organizations in the United States. Optomed does not need to search for these customers one by one.   Integrated solution: Optomed’s Aurora AEYE camera is one of the FDA-approved hardware options on this established platform (and the only handheld).   Rapid scaling: The partnership enables rapid access to hundreds of existing customer relationships and facilitates the integration of screening into primary healthcare routines in the United States.   What do others think? I tried to dig up information about IRIS’s customers @usa, but surprisingly found nothing

A positive earnings warning (Posari) requires a revenue of 5.8 million euros. Q2 results were heavily in the negative, as components for cameras were purchased. Now, a share issue was made at an early stage, so that more components for cameras can be ordered again and new permits can be initiated. Wishing a good next year to all Optomed owners.

A long segment has been released by Suther Health, and if you listen to it, Optomed and AI will definitely make a strong breakthrough. The train is moving fast, even though the stock price suggests otherwise:

Both Aeye and Toku Clair will come to the Lumo camera. Aeye is much easier and faster to get. For Toku, we have to wait for Topcon to get approval first. Lumo Aeye will come first. A small addition : Here, we are first waiting for the Lumo 510k FDA approval to arrive. When that approval comes, it might very well happen that US customers start ordering the Lumo camera as capex. Of course, with the idea that when the Lumo Aeye approval comes, they will adopt it “at the push of a button”.

I agree. Now is the moment when a moat is being built in the United States. All efforts and resources should now be put into that. It has already been stated that the start has been slower than investors and the company itself expected. However, I am of the opinion that if and when Optomed survives alone and as the only one in this segment to the stage where several large chains start scaling the product, a huge competitive advantage and a moat will be created for Optomed. Once this type of device has been deployed, trained, and integrated into systems, it has a clear advantage even if competitors gradually start to emerge. In Finland, procurements go through general tendering, but still, the familiar and reliable device seems to win the tenders, and the scoring often favors the right device. And this tendering problem doesn’t even exist in the private markets of the United States; instead, a proven, familiar product is a relatively easy choice.

I am cautiously expecting it during 2026, based on the premise that Aurora could act as a ‘predicate’ device, allowing the utilization of the so-called bridging data principle. This would mean it’s sufficient to demonstrate that Lumo achieves essentially the same or better quality, and that its safety and effectiveness (efficacy) are at least on the same level. This would avoid extensive population studies. However, I cannot assess whether such a thing would be possible, but it is certainly within the realm of possibility.
