Rejlers awarded framework agreement under the MAXIMA programme for future-proof wastewater treatment in south-western Skåne

Rejlers

Rejlers has been awarded a framework agreement within VA SYD's MAXIMA programme, one of the region's largest investments in sustainable wastewater treatment. The assignment includes services in automation and strengthens the company's position in water and wastewater and related industries.

The MAXIMA program aims to create a robust, high-capacity and future-proof wastewater treatment system for southwestern Skåne. Central to the investment is the Sjölunda wastewater treatment plant in Malmö, which is being expanded and modernized to be able to handle wastewater from Malmö, Burlöv, Lomma and Lund, as well as parts of Staffanstorp and Svedala. The capacity will increase from about 350,000 to up to 700,000 people.

VA SYD, one of Sweden's largest water, wastewater, and waste management organisations has been working with MAXIMA since 2017 to meet future demands for capacity, environment and operational reliability in a growing region. The programme also includes investments in pumping stations, transmission systems and other important infrastructure.

MAXIMA will contribute to securing growth in the region, protecting the aquatic environments, enabling the recycling of energy and nutrients, and creating a robust wastewater treatment system for the future.

"This is a very important assignment for us. To be able to contribute with our expertise in one of the region's largest and most future-oriented water and wastewater programs is both an honour and strategically important. MAXIMA is an investment of great importance for both society and the environment, and we look forward to contributing to the water infrastructure of the future together with VA SYD", says Magnus Lindau, Business Unit Manager at Rejlers.
