Remedy Entertainment is a game developer. Its operations are primarily focused on the development of action games, with a particular focus on 3D technology. Examples of games that the company has developed include several different versions of Alan Wake, Max Payne, and Control. Remedy also develops its own game engine and tooling technology that powers many of its games. The company was founded in 1995 and is headquartered in Espoo, Finland.

Insider purchases have been made. The homegrown feel has been broken, and an international CEO has been recruited. Former Chairman and principal owner Mäki showed humility regarding the board’s mistakes in the Inderes quarterly interview. “Service-model games” were removed from the “Commercial Models” page in the 2025 annual report. One cannot be satisfied with the performance of recent years, but it seems that the company has understood the need to press the reset button. Now, if Resonant turns out to be such a good game (commercially!), then in addition to a certain famous fictional writer, long-term Remedy investors will also be saved from the ‘Dark Place’.

Now this latest Dev Diary has been released. It reveals more gameplay and looks good. Bigger investments in this area. It has allowed for more enemy types, weapons, and features.

A little Easter surprise there. It would indeed be great if these were purchased with personal funds, as the announcements seem to indicate. A good signal from the new CEO, and generally, I consider it standard practice for a public company’s CEO to be committed through share ownership in one way or another. I’m also not at all worried about the CEO’s “EA” background, because in my opinion, it has always been clear that he was not hired to “monetize” Remedy’s games, but perhaps to help the games globalize (especially in Asia?). The only exception to this could have been FBC, which, with greater success, could have offered a platform for microtransactions and the like, but a CEO is hardly hired for one game, especially since FBC is somewhat off the main track of Remedy’s core, which is the AW/Control pipeline. As a side note, if the CEO has put 60 hours into Control Resonant, one would assume the product is in good shape  Many hints have already dropped from Remedy’s side, and that April Fools’ “Release date” joke was excellent, but nothing majorly new yet. Somehow, considering all this activity, it would seem distant if the launch were only after the summer holidays, but with current information, there’s nothing to do but wait and wonder.

At first glance, these seem to be shares bought with their own money. They’re taking a bit of a risk with this April Fool’s joke, aren’t they?  “Dates behind bars” = release date. I’m guessing most people will miss it, and the disappointment could be big if/when no release date is given soon. On the other hand, Remedy’s “official” April Fool’s joke seemed to be Alan Wake 2 dubbed in Finnish:

Yesterday, I met with Remedy’s new CEO, primarily to explain how our Hesuli works and what investors currently think about Remedy. Overall, I came away with a very positive first impression. JC is clearly a passionate gamer and had reportedly spent 60 hours testing Control Resonant during his first month. He clearly wants to stay closely involved with the game development teams in the future. The concerns raised here and among gamers in general about his EA background when he was appointed CEO can, in my opinion, be forgotten. We didn’t talk about multiplayer or microtransactions  But let’s let the man himself share more of his thoughts in the Q1 earnings interview.
