Remedy Entertainment is a game developer. Its operations are primarily focused on the development of action games, with a particular focus on 3D technology. Examples of games that the company has developed include several different versions of Alan Wake, Max Payne, and Control. To extend the brand, let’s add more foil-hatting and speculation. Earlier this week, Sami Järvi posted a picture on Instagram with musician Poe (who has made songs for Alan Wake 2, among others) in Los Angeles. It’s hardly a coincidence that Sami is in LA a week before The Game Awards, which are held in the same city. After this, YouTube influencer Jesse Cox published the video below, where he had apparently received an invitation to some kind of secret party, where Sami Järvi and Poe were jamming again. Alan Wake 2 fans who solved the riddle associated with the Lake House DLC’s “Siren Society” also apparently received an invitation to the event (?). In the Lake House DLC, if I recall correctly, Poe was also a fictional character in the game world, with the same name, in a few lore documents.               A classic ARG (Alternate Reality Game), a classic example of which is some kind of online puzzle, where a real-life reward awaits the solvers. After this, Poe released the song below, which has strong Control vibes.               Is this Sami’s musing, fan service, or a Control 2 teaser before TGA? Hard to say. Adding spice to these speculations is the Epic Games Store’s mystery free game, which was revealed yesterday and will be announced in conjunction with TGA next week   According to this ResetEra thread, some writers believe it could be Alan Wake 2. Now this is getting into outrageous hopium territory, but a free distribution of Alan Wake 2 could be followed by a later Steam release, because with free distribution, Epic’s marginal benefits in user acquisition for the Epic Store would eventually be met for Alan Wake 2. However, returning to the real world, all information so far has indicated that a Steam release for the game is not coming. Right down to Tim Sweeney’s confirmed email response. In any case, if Control 2 were to be released (=announced), a free distribution of Alan Wake 2 at this stage would fit very well to generate interest towards the Control sequel. However, so far there are no truly credible rumors or news that either Max Payne Remake or Control 2 would be featured at The Game Awards. Small pieces here and there. Personally, however, I consider it very likely that something will be heard about at least one of the games. If I throw in one last foil-hat spice, the buyback of own shares ends today, as 50k shares will likely be completed. Is it a coincidence that it’s timed to end a few business days before The Game Awards?

TakeTwo also has other similar development projects in its pipeline, such as Ken Levine’s “Bioshock in space” - JUDAS, which was supposed to be released already in March, but they received an extra year for development. The game’s development is in its final stages, and now that the spring slot has opened up, this would be the safest choice for TakeTwo. Yes, there would definitely be a spot for Max Payne, and even if there aren’t huge profits available, there’s even more fame for Remedy. My wish as a player is that this wouldn’t be Remedy’s last Max Payne game, but that the series would continue under Remedy’s guidance…

When GTA moves, H1’2026 might have less competition for Rockstar’s release and marketing resources. The sooner MPR is out, the better from this perspective. As expected, there was no new mention of MPR in Take Two’s earnings report today. But this interesting highlight from Take Two’s CEO: Strauss Zelnick:  The other big game of the quarter was Mafia: The Old Country, which beat the firm’s internal expectations and Zelnick says proves there’s a market for narrative games done well.   “What we suspected was confirmed,” he said. “Which is just… if you give consumers a great narrative experience that’s a lot of fun, somewhat contained, and at a fair price, then you can have the perfect result.”  These images have been in Take Two’s earnings materials for several quarters.     There’s no mention of MPR in Take Two’s pipeline, but this is not surprising as there hasn’t been an official announcement for the game yet.
