SaltX Technology Holding AB: SaltX EAC technology included in roadmap towards next-generation electric Direct Air Capture plants

SALT BPress release11.06.2026 klo 16.37

SaltX Technology has been selected by thyssenkrupp Calvion to participate in the concept development of a next-generation Direct Air Capture (DAC) plant in Canada. The company's Electric Arc Calciner (EAC) technology is included in the project for calcination and CO2 separation. The project will be carried out by thyssenkrupp Calvion, thyssenkrupp Marine Systems (TKMS), and Heirloom Carbon Technologies.

The initial plant design is based on thyssenkrupp Calvion's oxyfuel technology, while SaltX's EAC technology is included in the roadmap towards future electric DAC plants. SaltX has previously verified the EAC technology for electrified DAC processes through extensive material and process testing in collaboration with U.S.-based Direct Air Capture companies.

SaltX CEO, Lina Jorheden:
"Following the successful tests we have previously completed within DAC, we are pleased that our EAC technology is now part of the development of next-generation Direct Air Capture plants."

thyssenkrupp Calvion (formerly thyssenkrupp Polysius) is SaltX's partner for the industrialization and future delivery of EAC technology. The project is currently in an early development phase and, at this stage, is not covered by any commercial delivery agreement for SaltX.
