Skanska builds correctional facility in Ulriksfors, Sweden, for about SEK 570M
Skanska has signed an agreement with Monen Fastighetsförvaltning to begin the construction phase of a new correctional facility in Ulriksfors, Strömsund, Sweden. The facility, which will be leased to the Swedish Prison and Probation Service, will have space for approximately 140 inmates. The contract is worth about SEK 570M, which will be included in the order intake for Sweden in the second quarter of 2026.
Skanska's assignment includes renovation and some new construction. In a first phase, Skanska has worked for almost a year on preparations and demolition at the site, which in recent years has mostly been commercial premises. Ulriksfors has previously had a correctional facility on the site, but the operation was closed in 1979.
The facility will be a Class 3 facility, which is the lowest security class but with enhanced security for increased flexibility.
Construction work will begin immediately and the project is expected to be completed in August 2028.
