Swedish Tax Agency Upholds Security Requirement in Mandatory Reassessment Decision for VAT 2021/2022

Valuno Group AB (publ) ("the Company") has received the Swedish Tax Agency's mandatory reassessment decision regarding the Company's appeal concerning a stay of payment without security for tax related to the previously communicated VAT decision for the fiscal year 2021/2022, through which the Company was assessed approximately SEK 21.8 million in VAT for services provided through its subsidiary Quickbit Ltd in Gibraltar. The matter is therefore being submitted once again for review by the administrative court.

It is undisputed that the Company is entitled to a stay of payment; the review concerns solely the Swedish Tax Agency's requirement for security to be provided. Unlike before, the Company has now, with the support of advisors, presented a complete argument with extensive documentation concerning both the underlying VAT issue and the issue of a stay without security.

“The decision was expected. However, it is apparent that the Swedish Tax Agency has not assessed the arguments presented in the Company's appeal. We look forward to the matter being reviewed by the court based on the new documentation,” says Peter Liljeroos, CEO of Valuno Group AB (publ).

The Swedish Tax Agency has not yet announced a mandatory reassessment decision on the merits of the case following the new appeal, i.e., regarding whether the Company is obliged at all to pay the assessed VAT. The new appeal was submitted through KPMG and followed on July 31, 2026, by a full supplement based on detailed transaction data. According to the Company, this information confirms that consumers for most transactions were charged the exact order value without fees or surcharges. The VAT decision was made through reassessment and discretionary assessment. The burden of proof is therefore high and lies with the Swedish Tax Agency.
