Veidekke's Swedish subsidiary EuroMining has signed a new contract with the
mining company LKAB regarding loading and transport of rock masses at Vitåfors
in Malmberget in northern Sweden. The four-year contract, starting 21 May 2025,
includes options for 1 + 1 year extensions.
The Vitåfors assignment includes loading and transport of rock masses, including
boulder crushing and handling. The contract is estimated to have an annual
volume of approximately 6 million tonnes, and to employ up to one hundred
people. The contract represents renewed confidence in EuroMining, which has had
the assignment of loading and transporting rock masses at Vitåfors since 2016.
"After a number of years of operation in Vitåfors, we are pleased to note that
LKAB appreciates and wants to continue to develop our cooperation," says
Pernilla Storm at EuroMining.
EuroMining specialises in ore loading and transporting, with the bulk of its
operations taking place in the Malmfälten mining district in Gällivare. The
company's largest customer is LKAB, with extensive mining operations in northern
Sweden. Veidekke acquired all shares in EuroMining in 2024.
