YIT Oyj: YIT to start construction works on the implementation phase of the Aleksanteri School renovation in Tampere

YIT and Tampereen Tilapalvelut Oy have signed the order of the implementation phase of the Aleksanteri School's renovation project. In the recently completed development phase of the project, the content of the renovation as well as the target and ceiling price of the project management contract were defined in close collaboration with the client, the principal designer, the project management contractor, the design team, and users. The implementation plans and the target price were approved by the City Board in April.

The project will be implemented as a collaborative project management contract with a target and ceiling price, with YIT acting as the project management contractor and the main contractor. During the development phase of the project, the project management contract cost was estimated to be approximately EUR 24 million. The contract will be entered in YIT's order book for the second quarter.

The construction work will begin in June 2025, with the renovation of the premises slated for completion in August 2027.

The Aleksanteri School is the oldest school in the City of Tampere that is still in operation. Consisting of three school buildings built at different times, it is an exceptionally demanding renovation site. The buildings and yard area are protected sites, and the buildings will undergo extensive structural repairs.

In the renovation project, the school's building systems will be modernized and the interiors will be updated to meet the standards for a modern school environment, while respecting the history of the building. Accessibility in the building will also be improved. The Aleksanteri School buildings house premises for grades 1-6 and preschool groups, altogether for about 550 pupils.
