This post is pure speculation and is based solely on rumors and guesswork. As is well known, the F-35 aircraft are supplied by a company called Lockheed Martin, and according to Nurmi’s article, discussions regarding the drone swarms have specifically been opened with LM. Bittium is involved in indirect industrial cooperation related to the fighter jet deals with Lockheed Martin, and has itself announced that it started two indirect industrial cooperation projects with LM in 2024 (CEO’s review for the Annual General Meeting on May 7, 2025). Today, Bittium announced that it has expanded its Tough SDR product line to drones and other unmanned vehicles. I am not claiming that today’s announcement has a connection to Lockheed Martin or recent news coverage, but one might hastily think so. In any case, I believe this product launch has significant commercial potential.
