Xplora Technologies AS is a Norwegian based company that develops and sells smartwatches designed to safely onboard children to the digital world. Xplora Technologies was listed on the Euronext Growth Oslo market in Nov 2020. Xplora Technologies gives parents the confidence to allow their children to play freely outside by providing connectivity and additional safety solutions whilst simultaneously incentivising physical activity and engagement with ESG initiatives through its digital Goplay platform. Together with producing and selling hardware Xplora Technologies generates recurring revenues from value-adding services and connectivity referred to as the Xplora Service Platform. Xplora also extends third-party licenses of the service platform to other smart devices producers, further extending upselling capabilities.

I ordered an XGO3 for my kid from Xplora’s own store 3 weeks ago and it still hadn’t been shipped. Today I got a message that the order has been cancelled, I don’t know if it says anything, but I figured I’d share. Wonder if they’ve just stopped manufacturing those older models and sold too many during the promotional campaign, or what it might be.

The average target price is now 44 NOK (today’s closing price 23.50).  Pareto Securities lowered its target price to 40 NOK (55), buy recommendation unchanged. Redeye lowered its base case target to 48 NOK (85). Bear case 16 NOK (46), bull case 94 NOK (143).  Redeye: One million by 2029 needs the senior ramp  Xplora reported senior revenue down 20% at NOK198.4m and deferred the Doro Connect retail rollout for the third time in nine months, now to September and without a store count or a completion date. The shares fell 31%. The selloff is a broken story rather than a soft quarter: investors bought the subscription and margin build, and Xplora has now disappointed on it three quarters running. Promised 900 stores from January, then 160 from August; delivered one completed pilot store and a September start with no count. The sunset volumes and the Aurora launch that lifted 2025 are now turning, which makes H2 a tough compare. Redeye cuts EBITDA roughly 60% in 2026 and 57% in 2027, on senior units and the Connect attach rate. The share lifts on delivery, not guidance. Redeye cuts base case to NOK48(85).

The market reaction to Xplora’s Q2 report on Wednesday was -31%, and the stock is now available at its lowest price since April 2025 (closing price 24.65 NOK). Is anyone still following this? Any comments from those familiar with the company?  A decline in revenue is, of course, a slightly negative trait for a growth company. However, the press release (Xplora Q2 26: Surpassing the half million mark on subscriptions in Q2, with H1 EBITDA after capex up 50% to NOK 56m) focuses on subscriber growth and a review of the entire H1 figures. Subscriptions grew by 27% y/y, but ARR only by 10%, meaning ARPU decreased. Germany and other international markets are mentioned as the reason. ARR also fell compared to Q1, which seems like a bit of a bad sign. According to Redeye, the thesis for the senior segment took a hit. From the CEO’s comments:  Xplora remains, first and foremost, a growth company. A key strength of our business strategy is its ability to adapt to changing consumer market conditions. When consumer demand softens, we place greater emphasis on protecting margins and operational efficiency, while continuing to expand our recurring revenue base. During the second quarter, our subscription base reached 502k subscriptions. We added 28k subscriptions in the quarter, increasing the subscription base by 108k, or 27% year-over-year. While the Nordic subscription base continues to grow, most new subscriptions are generated in Germany and other international markets, where ARPU is slightly lower. Service revenue increased by 10% year-over-year and annual recurring revenue (ARR) reached NOK 359m. EBITDA amounted to NOK 49m in the quarter and NOK 76m for the first half of 2026.  From the press release:  During the quarter the company executed key strategic initiatives to continue the progress towards the target of 1 million subscriptions. By signing an SPA for the acquisition of emporia Group, a market leader in senior mobile phones in the DACH region, Xplora strengthened the foundation for the roll-out of subscription services in the Senior segment, as well as defining natural markets for exploring new MVNOs. In addition, the company also launched the pilot for the retail point-of-sale (POS) system through a Nordic retail partner in late Q2 26. Although at an early stage, a POS system enables distribution of Xplora services through retail partners alongside device sales. “With a growing portfolio across both the Children & Youth and Senior segments, an expanding Xplora Connect ecosystem, more than half a million subscriptions, and a broader international footprint, we are well positioned to deliver long-term profitable growth. Our focus now is on disciplined execution to realise the full potential of this platform,” says Kirkbak.  Redeye’s quick comment (free, but requires login):  Xplora (Initial take Q2): One pilot store complete with Power  Redeye reads Xplora’s Q2 2026 as a volume miss with margins intact. Group revenue of NOK422.0m fell 9 per cent y/y and came in below every published estimate, with the shortfall almost entirely in Senior devices, while gross margin rose to 54 per cent and EBITDA excluding one-offs held at NOK61m against NOK60m. Subscriptions and service revenue landed where the July pre-announcement implied, but ARR fell sequentially to NOK359m and grew 10 per cent y/y against subscriber growth of 27 per cent. The quarter damages the 2027-28 senior services thesis. Senior subscriptions are the product of device volume, attach rate and store count: this print took device volume down and leaves the store count far below what a full August rollout implied, so the two inputs compound rather than offset. Redeye expects the shares to be marked 10-15 per cent lower.  Before the report, the average target price from two analysts was 65 NOK (the share price was ~36 NOK before the collapse on the day of the results). It will be interesting to see those after the updates. After the market closed, it was also announced that the CEO and CFO had been shopping.

This varies by region. In some regions, even smartwatch phones must be kept in backpacks. On the other hand, this is a bit of a Finnish phenomenon. In German-speaking Central Europe, the prevalence of phones among children is remarkably low. In Germany and Switzerland, some children feel they have no use for a phone. My Swiss friend’s child received a phone at age 13 and brought it back on the third day, wanting to return it. They claim that German TikTok apparently gets filled with far-right content very quickly, at least for child profiles.

The Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare’s (THL) new digital recommendations do not recommend smartphones for children under 13, suggesting at most phones with limited features. This could benefit Xplora’s bottom line, at least to some extent. There is no information regarding recommendations in other Nordic countries. My own child is in first grade, and smartphones are not allowed at school. I don’t know how this is monitored, or if they can still be kept in a backpack? But a smartwatch phone is allowed on the wrist.

Q3 results are out. Quarterly revenue exceeded half a billion (NOK) for the first time. And according to the CEO, “the senior and youth market is only in its early stages.”  Xplora Q3 25 Surpassed half a billion in quarterly revenue, with record-high EBITDA Xplora Technologies Oslo, 26 November 2025 – Xplora Technologies AS (“Xplora”) today published its results for the third quarter 2025. Revenue in Q3 2025 more than doubled to NOK 510m, exceeding half a billion for the first time in a single quarter. EBITDA came in at NOK 72m in the quarter. “We report a solid year-on-year increase of 36% in our subscription base reaching a total subscription base of 443k. This yielded a 19% increase in service revenue to NOK 90m, corresponding to an ARR of NOK 358m” says CEO Sten Kirkbak. “With the Senior and Youth markets still in the early stages, the subscription opportunities are significant”, Kirkbak adds. Gross margin increased to 52% in the quarter, supported by the introduction of new product series with lower cost of goods sold and channel optimization, generating a 122% year-on-year increase in gross profit to NOK 263m. EBITDA increased by 133% to NOK 72m, corresponding with an EBITDA-margin of 14%. Year-to-date (YTD) 2025, group revenues reached NOK 1.3b, up 135% from the same period last year. Gross profit YTD was NOK 685m, a year-on-year increase of 146%, whereas EBITDA increased by 169% to NOK 140m. “With our strong performance in Q3 and year-to-date, we have established a solid foundation for continued growth and expansion. At today’s Capital Markets Day, we will demonstrate how we intend to leverage these opportunities as we progress toward—and beyond—one million subscriptions,” says Kirkbak. Building on this momentum, the roadmap and growth opportunities we will present at today’s CMD, and to support our long-term capital markets strategy, the board of directors of Xplora has decided to initiate a process for analysing alternatives for an uplisting from Euronext Growth to Oslo Stock Exchange, Nasdaq Stockholm or another regulated marketplace. The ambitions are that the process is completed within 12 months, subject to prevailing market conditions and regulatory approvals.

New subscriber conversion was robust, achieving a gross inflow of 42k subscribers in August, representing an improvement from the 37k recorded in August 2025, and demonstrating y/y subscriber base growth of 108k. The m/m increase of 23k subscribers provides a favorable indication relative to our Q3 projections, where we have forecasted an exit base of 546k subscribers for the current quarter.
