Cargotec and SSAB pioneering fossil-free steel in cargo handling industry

Cargotec and SSAB have agreed to work on the introduction of fossil-free steel to the cargo handling industry. The intent outlines that the companies will start coordinated development toward the use of SSAB’s fossil-free steel in Cargotec’s cargo handling equipment.

Kalmar, part of Cargotec, will supply 18 Kalmar Hybrid Shuttle Carriers to The Port of Virginia®, a deepwater port on the U.S. East Coast. This is the fifth consecutive order of hybrid shuttle carriers from The Port of Virginia, demonstrating the customer’s confidence in Kalmar and Kalmar’s leading hybrid technology. The previous corresponding orders date back to 2017. The order will be booked in Cargotec’s Q3 2021 order intake, and the delivery of the machines is scheduled to be completed by the end of June 2022.

State Administration for Market Regulation has approved the merger between Cargotec and Konecranes in China

On 1 October 2020, Cargotec Corporation (“Cargotec”) and Konecranes Plc (“Konecranes”) announced that the companies had signed a combination agreement and plan to combine through a merger, subject to regulatory and other approvals (the “Transaction”).

Kalmar, part of Cargotec, has received an order of 12 diesel-electric straddle carriers from Medcenter Container Terminal (MCT), which is owned and operated by Terminal Investment Limited (TIL). The order was booked in Cargotec's 2021 Q3 order intake, with the delivery of all machines expected to be completed during Q1 2022.
