Metacon AB (publ) announces that its R&D center in Patras, Greece, has been commissioned to develop a specialized catalytic reaction testing unit for Dutch Institute for Fundamental Energy Research (DIFFER) in the Netherlands. The project is a pilot step for DIFFER, aiming at potential larger R&D initiatives in this area in the future.
Uppsala, 1 July 2026
The system is designed to enable advanced studies of catalytic processes involving carbon dioxide and hydrogen, including the conversion into value-added products. It will support experimental work under demanding conditions, with precise control of pressure, temperature and flow rates, as well as integrated data acquisition and process control.
The project highlights Metacon's in-house capabilities within process and reactor design, system integration, and control software development. The unit will be delivered as a fully integrated platform for laboratory and pilot-scale research applications.
"This project reflects the depth of engineering and research expertise within our Patras team. We see continued demand for advanced testing systems that enable customers to evaluate new catalytic processes and accelerate development," says Christer Wikner, CEO and President of Metacon.
Metacon's R&D operations in Patras have more than 20 years of experience in hydrogen-related technologies, including catalytic processes, fuel production pathways, and system integration. The team combines laboratory infrastructure with engineering capabilities covering design, construction, and control systems.
