Fasadgruppen's Q2 results beat our expectations on both the top line and profitability. We consider the key positive surprise to have been the faster-than-anticipated recovery in Nordic project activity towards the end of the quarter, which more than offset continued regulatory delays in the UK. The solid order backlog and the positive turnaround in project execution reinforce our view of an earnings recovery in the second half of the year.

Faster-than-anticipated recovery in the Nordics drove revenue beat

Revenue amounted to 1,410 MSEK, exceeding our expectations. The year-over-year decline of 1.8% was significantly milder than our forecasted 6.0% drop. We had anticipated that cold-weather bottlenecks from Q1 would push more volumes into the second half of the year, but activity picked up gradually, and the quarter ended with organic growth in June. By segment, Total Solutions generated 707 MSEK (estimate 682 MSEK), supported by early signs of improvement in the Swedish renovation market. Specialist Solutions also outperformed with revenue of 555 MSEK compared to our 505 MSEK expectation. Conversely, the UK-based Clear Line segment's revenue of 148 MSEK fell slightly short of our 161 MSEK forecast, as long processing times at the Building Safety Regulator (BSR) continued to constrain volumes. We find it encouraging that the group's order backlog grew organically by 6.6% in local currencies, reaching 4,479 MSEK.

Excellent Clear Line margins supported profitability

The higher revenue volumes translated into an adjusted EBITA of 108 MSEK, which beat our 102 MSEK expectation. The adjusted EBITA margin of 7.6% was exactly in line with our estimate. In our view, Clear Line was a standout contributor, delivering an impressive 37.7% EBITA margin (56 MSEK), though management noted this was partially driven by timing effects from projects completed in June. In contrast, we believe profitability in Norway remained challenging, as lingering winter effects and weak new construction activity continued to weigh on earnings in the Total Solutions segment. Further down the income statement, lower amortization of acquired intangible assets and reduced interest expenses provided an additional boost. This resulted in an EPS of 0.70 SEK, which clearly surpassed our 0.55 SEK forecast.

Turnaround in backlog execution provides confidence for the second half

Fasadgruppen does not provide formal financial guidance. However, the company stated that the negative operating leverage that weighed on earnings in the previous report has begun to reverse. The company enters the second half of the year with an organically growing order backlog, a new acquisition in Finland, and early signs of recovery in the Swedish renovation market. While UK regulatory processes remain slow, the company sees the direction as positive ahead of the seasonally most intense quarter. In our view, the report shows that the turnaround in project execution is on track, as recovering Nordic volumes and a return of positive operating leverage should improve profitability in H2.
