Herantis announced on Thursday that it had appointed Dr Juha Savola as the company's Chief Medical Officer (CMO). In our view, Savola brings very strong and relevant international experience to the company, from advancing drug development all the way to regulatory approvals. Bringing an experienced expert to the company's management supports Herantis as it prepares for the next Phase II clinical trial of the HER-096 drug candidate and negotiates with potential strategic partners.
Savola has over 25 years of experience in pharmaceutical industry leadership, clinical development, and regulatory affairs at companies such as Spark Therapeutics, Teva, and Roche. We particularly value his previous experience in leading clinical development programs for neurological diseases, such as Parkinson's disease, and in collaborating with the US (FDA) and European (EMA) regulatory agencies. Herantis aims to submit a clinical trial application for the HER-096 Phase II study by the end of 2026. At this stage, the company's key objective is a high-quality study design and achieving an international licensing agreement. We believe Savola's deep industry expertise strengthens the company's ability to successfully advance the development program.
