Consti proceeds to the implementation phase of the Pitäjänmäki comprehensive school, daycare, youth centre and library project
Consti Korjausrakentaminen Oy ("Consti"), a subsidiary of Consti Plc, has signed a project management contract with the City of Helsinki for the implementation phase of the renovation and extension of the Pitäjänmäki comprehensive school, daycare, youth centre and library.
Construction work will start immediately and is scheduled to be completed in February 2029. The target price of the project management contract, excluding VAT, is approximately EUR 46.6 million. The project will be recognised in Consti’s order backlog in the fourth quarter of 2026.
The client is the City of Helsinki Urban Environment Division. The user divisions are the Education Division and the Culture and Leisure Division.
Versatile facilities for the school and other users
The renovation and extension project will provide facilities for approximately 680 pupils of a comprehensive school covering grades 1–9, as well as 224 places for early childhood education and pre-primary education.
In addition to the school and daycare, the building complex will house the library and youth centre as well as a new sports hall that is considerably larger than the current one. A special feature of the project is hearing accessibility, which is taken into account extensively in both design and construction.
The total scope of the project is approximately 15,955 gross square metres. The school building, completed in 1954, will be renovated for the use of the comprehensive school and youth services. The extension building completed in 1991 has been demolished, and a functionally flexible extension will be built in its place.
The development phase laid the foundation for implementation
On 3 March 2026, Consti announced the development phase agreement concluded with the City of Helsinki. During the development phase, the feasibility of the plans was confirmed, the division of procurement and design packages and the design schedule were agreed, and the procurements critical for starting construction were secured.
