Donkey Republic: New partnership to solve commuting challenges and congestion on the roads

Donkey Republic

The partnership will be launched on October 3rd in Malmparken St. with GEN2 pedal bikes, and ongoing nationwide scale up is expected until the end of July next year.

DSB offers Kørmit as a last-mile mobility solution that puts DSB in the center of sustainable travels by making it easier to get from station to work. Kørmit's bigger ambition is in alignment with Donkey Republic's mission to make bike sharing service as part of public transport, by adding additional types of transport to the service, and thereby give customers the opportunity to choose modes of travel to and from the stations. Kørmit strives to drive an ecosystem and has taken a partnership approach where DSB, municipalities, companies, employees, citizens, and mobility suppliers all get value from the Kørmit service. The Kørmit service focuses on underserved areas with well-known mobility challenges.

Kørmit is offered as a service that companies can purchase for their employees to get as an employee benefit. It is up to the buying companies themselves to decide whether they want to pay the full amount for the employee or, for example, split the cost.

With Kørmit, there are bicycles at the station and at the workplace, which employees sign up easily and simply use via the Kørmit app.

Donkey Republic is excited to be a part of this journey towards more sustainable and seamless travels! Donkey Republic will be providing 800 bikes GEN2 Pedal bikes to the project and doing the service & maintenance of the bikes. Donkey Republic will also do rebalancing which they are paid for. This is a great opportunity for Donkey Republic to scale their operation up to 800 bikes!

"We believe cycling is a crucial part of the green transition, and integrating rail with bikes is the way to realize the modal shift away from cars. Across Europe, we see bike shares either run by rail operators, or cities, and not well integrated. In Denmark, we now have a globally unique opportunity to create a nationally available city bike share that is also fully integrated to the rail journeys." - Founder, Erdem Ovacik.

About Kørmit and DSB

Kørmit is an offer for business customers, which gives them access to a bike directly from some of our stations. In this way, we sell more than the journey by train, but also the onward journey directly to work. In this way, we can make the train even more attractive, and we can help companies to be part of the journey towards sustainability. Kørmit is being developed and operated by the Mobility Lab in DSB Digital Labs.
