Lindex Group operates in the retail sector. The Group manages a number of stores in major shopping centres and large commercial premises located throughout the Nordic market. The Group is a retailer of several brands and the range consists of clothing, shoes and related accessories. The company has its headquarters in Helsinki.

Why should lease liabilities be cleared? Surely it is perfectly normal business practice to pay rent for leased premises. How they are currently recorded in accounting is a separate matter entirely. But otherwise, cost-cutting is important and the direction has been good lately.

It seems another round of change negotiations (yt-neuvottelut) at Stockmann is over — the cost-cutting continues. On the other hand, defusing the bomb (lease liabilities) seems like an impossible task to dismantle.

In other words, investors believe in Lindex’s turnaround story and continue to hold. Perhaps adding to their positions.

I wonder what we can expect to happen here now that the stock has fallen into silence? Even though things are starting to get settled and the new logistics center (loke) is operational, there is still no movement visible. Should we expect dividends rather than a rise in the share price?

Perhaps consumer confidence has finally turned a corner, which improves the likelihood of the Stockmann spin-off as well as Lindex’s earnings. On the other hand, apparel didn’t seem to be in the top spots in Nordea’s data, so it’s always worth being a bit critical ;).

The latest list of major shareholders is out on Lindex’s website. Regarding private investors, it’s pretty much “stagnant water,” meaning the largest private shareholders at the top haven’t increased their positions. How should this be interpreted? After all, the share price is cheap relative to future potential—assuming, of course, one believes Lindex’s management can pull off the turnaround.
