New charging stations planned for Chocowinity, Plymouth, Wadesboro, and Whiteville as PowerUp America continues its expansion across North Carolina.
PowerUp America announced this week it has been selected for four new funding awards through the North Carolina Department of Transportation’s National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure program, expanding the company’s fast charging footprint across the state.
Kempower will supply the DC fast charging equipment for the new stations, continuing its partnership with PowerUp America. The projects carry an additional North Carolina connection, with Kempower’s North American headquarters and manufacturing operations located in Durham.
The new awards will bring public DC fast charging stations to Chocowinity, Plymouth, Wadesboro, and Whiteville, expanding access to reliable charging for residents, travelers, and communities along North Carolina’s transportation corridors.

The four new projects represent the next phase of PowerUp America’s growing presence in North Carolina. Working alongside NCDOT, Kempower, utility providers, and local partners, PowerUp America will advance each location through development, design, permitting, construction, and commissioning, with the new stations targeted to open in mid to late 2027.
